More than 2 million people in Bangladesh lack of access to an improved water source and 48 million lack improved sanitation. In Bangladesh and around the world, millions are navigating the COVID-19 pandemic with the added challenges of living without access to safe water. Now more than ever access to safe water is critical to the health of families in Bangladesh.
GRAM UNNAYAN SANGSTHA’s work means ensuring equitable access to water in both quantity and quality, which prevents disease and sustains lives and livelihoods; reducing environmental health risks by managing sanitation safely and with dignity; and, involving women and men in managing water and sanitation resources and safe hygiene practices to maximize the benefits for their communities.
GRAM UNNAYAN SANGSTHA has been working in Bangladesh since 2022, supporting service providers in all over Bangladesh. During this time, we’ve focused on economically and environmentally sustainable measures to increase access to safe and affordable water & sanitation in the poorest urban communities.
