The Zakat-Based Livelihood Support Program – 2023 was implemented by Gram Unnayan Sangstha to promote sustainable livelihoods and poverty reduction among vulnerable households. The project was carried out in Netrokona Sadar and Ishwarganj, focusing on remote and underserved communities with limited income opportunities.
Through Zakat contributions from individuals and organizations, the project supported livelihood development initiatives tailored to beneficiaries’ needs. A total of 17 households received support, including 13 households for goat rearing and 4 households for tailoring activities, and supporting 5 small businesses, enabling them to generate income and improve household economic stability. The funds were utilized in accordance with the intentions of Zakat donors, ensuring ethical and targeted support for the poor.
The intervention contributed to increased self-reliance, income generation, and long-term economic resilience, supporting Gram Unnayan Sangstha’s mission to alleviate poverty and promote sustainable development in vulnerable communities.
