Climate Resilience

Gram Unnayan Sangstha (GUS) is committed to strengthening the resilience of vulnerable communities against climate variability and environmental challenges. Through research-driven approaches and targeted seasonal interventions, GUS supports communities to better anticipate, withstand, and adapt to climate-related risks.

Across its Climate Resilience-focused interventions, a total of 1,150 beneficiaries have been directly supported, alongside broader community-level impacts through long-term research and capacity-building initiatives. GUS has invested in action research to better understand local vulnerabilities and develop practical, community-driven solutions to socio-economic and environmental challenges. Through participatory approaches, communities have been actively engaged in identifying risks, testing adaptive strategies, and generating knowledge for sustainable development.

This long-term initiative has contributed to improved local decision-making, enhanced adaptive capacity, and the promotion of context-specific solutions that strengthen resilience at the grassroots level. Recognizing the immediate risks posed by extreme weather conditions, GUS implements targeted seasonal support programs to protect vulnerable populations. During harsh winter periods, the organization provides essential assistance to low-income households, elderly individuals, and children who are most at risk.

These interventions help reduce exposure to cold-related illnesses, improve safety and comfort, and ensure that vulnerable groups can better cope with seasonal climate stress.
