Completion Report on Qurbani Project 2023

- Introduction: The festival of Eid-Ul- Adha marks the end of the sacred Hajj pilgrimage. Muslims around the world commemorate the obedience of the prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) by scarifying an animal. Many Muslim families live under the poverty level. They are to survive and manage their daily livelihoods with hardship. They cannot even get regular meals a day. For these families, there is no question of sacrificing animals and distributing the meat to the poor and those in need. Each year, Gram Unnayan Sangstha with sponsor of different international donors and partners help Muslims carry out Qurban on their behalf. Gram Unnayan Sangstha distributed Qurbani meat among 611 families (3055 beneficiaries) in Netrokona sadar, Netrokona and Demra, Dhaka districts.

- To ensure impoverished people have Qurban meat on the Eid-Ul- Adha
- To help spread religious festival joy to the poor and vulnerable communities
- To meet the dietary protein requirement

- Project Period:
23 May, 2023 to 31 August 2023
- Project Activities:
- Conducted a survey to finalize the neediest beneficiaries in the communities.
- Purchased the deliverable from the local market.
- Slaughtering the animals and distributed meat among the selected beneficiaries.
- Meetings with local administration, social elites and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the distribution of meet.
- Prepared the completion report and submitted to NGOAB.
- Impact of the project:
- 611 poor & destitute families (3055 beneficiaries) are directly benefited in terms of food security and nutrition by getting meats.
- During Qurbani project many poor people worked as the labor which created their livelihood opportunities.
- Cattle trading business is developed and profitable during the Eid- Ul-Adha and many local community businessmen started cattle rearing farm for more profit during the joyful occasion.
8. Concluding remarks: Each and every year Gram Unnayan Sangstha will ensure Qurbani meat for the poor and destitute families during Eid- Ul-Adha which will meet up the dietary protein requirement and also help spread religious festival joy to the poor and vulnerable communities.
